Message from Cindy McQueen, President

As we approach Labour Day and reflect on our years of union activism, CUPE Local 389 has come a long way with raising our profile in the community. We support seniors at Silver Harbour, Youth at Risk programs, assist struggling inner city schools not funded by the provincial government and anti-bullying projects by supplying pink t-shirts. We have policies that support food programs, community gardens and many other important initiatives, such as fighting for your rights in the workplace.

Through political action, we have been able to maintain labour friendly relationships with local politicians. We also strive to keep good working relations with all of our employers as we currently proceed with bargaining.

As President, I am thankful that CUPE Local 389 is blessed to have an excellent dedicated team on your Executive Board, Unit Representatives and most important, committed Job Stewards serving your interests.

I wish all of our members a Very Happy Labour Day. I hope you will join us at Swangard Stadium on September 5, 2016 for celebrations. Details will be posted on our website.

In solidarity,

Cindy McQueen
